Overview

A seven-part webinar series designed to build inclusive and supportive secondary school cultures. Our expert-led sessions will provide school leaders, teachers and pastoral teams with actionable strategies to manage primary-to-secondary transitions.

1. Understanding Belonging in the Secondary Context, Thursday 15th October 2026, 3.45- 5pm

  • What ‘belonging’ looks like for adolescents
  • How identity, culture and student voice shape belonging
  • Practical strategies for creating psychologically safe classrooms
  • Reducing social isolation, silent disengagement, and ‘masked behaviour’

2. Transition from Primary to Secondary: What Students Really Need, Thursday 3 December, 3:45 - 5pm

  • Understanding key anxieties about transition (academically and socially)
  • Using KS2 data meaningfully (beyond SATs)
  • Designing a transition programme that is inclusive, trauma-aware and relational

  • Using curriculum narratives to reflect diverse identities
  • Classroom routines that promote inclusion
  • Feedback and questioning approaches that amplify all voices
  • Reducing stereotype threat in subject classrooms

4. Behaviour, Belonging & Relationships, Thursday 11 February 2027, 3:45 - 5pm

  • Relationship-centred behaviour strategies
  • Trauma-informed responses, restorative practice and coregulation
  • Moving from ‘behaviour compliance’ to ‘community contribution’
  • Ensuring behaviour systems help students feel known, not punished

5. Senior Leadership: Building a Culture of Belonging Across the School, Thursday 18 March 2027, 3:45 - 5pm

  • What a school-wide belonging strategy looks like
  • Developing staff behaviours that model belonging
  • Reviewing policies (attendance, uniform, behaviour) for equity
  • Ensuring staff feel belonging too - staff culture impacts student culture

6. Supporting Vulnerable Learners Through Transition, Tuesday 20th April 2027, 3:45 - 5pm

  • Pupils with SEND, care-experienced students, EAL learners
  • Early identification and transition passports
  • How to design bespoke pathways into Year 7
  • Family engagement strategies that build trust early

7. Parental Engagement & Community Belonging, Thursday 24th June 2027, 3:45 - 5pm

  • Building trust with families from diverse backgrounds
  • Communicating transitions clearly and compassionately
  • Co-designing events that welcome families into the school
  • Strengthening home–school relationships during Y7 and KS4 transitions
